The Domain The Tale of Floris was created in 2000 by Daniel Le Conte des Floris, former journalist of the Revue du Vin de France. A small farm in Languedoc of about 7 hectares, the vineyards are located between Pézenas, Caux and Gabian. The winery is located in Pézenas, in the heart of the village and the Languedoc-Pézenas appellation. The estate is in organic agriculture (Ecocert) and biodynamic (Demeter).
It was in 2000 that Daniel Le Conte des Floris, former journalist of the Revue du Vin de France, took the plunge by creating an exciting estate in Pézenas. Its Burgundy formation is reflected in its taste for the variation of terroirs, the delicate management of barrel farming and, ultimately, in wines favouring aromatic complexity and freshness.
Word of mouth has made its whites stars of Languedoc, forerunners for their intense, precise and greedy style, with a preserved breath. It is essential to look for its White Moon cuvée from the rare white Carignan grape variety. Deep and of great care, it is one of the greatest Mediterranean white wines!
In red, finesse dominates, around the variations of the terroir with the vintages Villafranchien (grenache) and Carboniferous (syrah). Homo Habilis is a long-lasting wine based on mourvèdre.
The wines sometimes need one or two years of care to find their marks but they become sumptuous with a few years of cellar.
Cartagène, cartagena in Occitan, is a traditional and typical Languedoc liqueur wine (mistelle). It is obtained from must of fresh grapes and wine brandy. This presents a remarkable balance.
The nose evokes cherries, then evolves towards notes of almonds and nuts and all the aromatic palette characteristic of rancios. Very nice impression of very ripe black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant) which are reminiscent of a vintage port.
Southern and elegant wine, the whole breed of black grenache vinified in Burgundy.
This wine is slightly peaty. Substance and mineral freshness, it imposes a certain power on the finish.
It is a traditional orange wine that Daniel decided to produce from a few bunches of white Carignan from his oldest vine. It is his smallest production, a confidential wine.
Homo Habilis reveals an admirable transparency of flavor, with subtle spicy notes filigreeing the fruit. A great wine, powerful but elegant and racy!
The nose reveals superb notes of infusion (verbena) and dried apricots. The winey mouth is accomplished in a greedy texture concluding with magnificent bitters.Sensation tactile is halfway between white and red, confusing and delicious!
Wine from White carignan, a rare Mediterranean grape variety, the White Moon improves as it ages. Nose with notes of apricot, white flowers and exotic fruits. Beautiful minerality, with elegance and delicacy. One of the most beautiful Mediterranean whites, a rare wine!
