Domaine Vaquer
Roussillon wine
Domaine du Roussillon, founded in 1912, this property has remained in the family and is now in the hands of Frédérique Vaquer, Burgundian and oenologist by training, widow of Bernard Vaquer, who died in 2001.
On the clay-siliceous and stony soils typical of Aspres, she leads a viticulture which she defines as the most reasonable possible, for the moment without any certification. Managed brilliantly, most of the aging takes place in enamelled vats or cement vats. These energetic, original wines, out of fashion, have balances that preserve freshness, even when the alcoholic degrees are high.
Look for old vintages (including sumptuous maccabeu whites and anthology carignans) vinified by the legendary Fernand Vaquer, who was among the first producers in the region to bottle his wine in the 1960s. These wines are rare and sought after, have been perfectly preserved in altitude cellars and are today pure treasures.
Natural sweet wine produced using the Solera method, perpetual reserve. This solera is thirty years old and develops intense notes of rancio like the greatest Andalusian wines. A nectar!
Wine for over thirty years. This wine, mostly from Carignan, has long been aged in bottles at an altitude of 1300 m in the Pyrenees. It retained its amazing freshness.
Great wine from Roussillon. Round wine, marked by honey, fat, vegetal notes of fennel and fresh almond. Great freshness in the mouth.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume with moderation.
