From century-old vines, planted on very poor soils, cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture and with the minimum possible intervention, the Matsu estate produces powerful wines, with personality, but offering a sweetness and a unusual elegance in the wines of the Toro appellation.
Resulting from the collaboration between José Miguel Arambarri, the Vintae group and Raùl Acha, the Matsu range is inspired by traditional Japanese culture. Its particularity: it is a trilogy of wines representing the three generations of the family behind these vintages.
José Miguel Arambarri, president of the Vintae group, a company specializing in the world of high-end and luxury wines, therefore collaborated with Raùl Acha, eminent oenologist, to produce this Matsu cuvée whose objective was to obtain a product of high quality with respect for nature. So no question of finding chemicals, insecticides, weedkillers and other systemic products. The most advanced techniques of organic and biodynamic agriculture have been used in the production of these wines. Coming from Japanese, Matsu means “to wait”, “to put your hopes in something”. A concept that perfectly defines the philosophy of this vineyard: wait for the grapes to ripen, wait for nature to do its job, wait for the wine to take its time.
The 3 wines are explained as such:
“El Picaro” - Youth, with a fiery red wine.
“El Recio” - Adulthood that combines the power of youth and the experience of “old age”: tranquility, perseverance and strength.
“El Viejo” - The age of reason, satisfaction and moderation.
Matsu El Pícaro is a fruity and linear red wine. A wine to be enjoyed in its youth due to the explosion of fruit it possesses.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume with moderation.
