The Story of the Spaniard
Blended Malt Whisky
Ecosse
The Story of the Spaniard is the latest creation from Compass Box master blender John Glaser. It is a blended malt inspired by an earlier limited edition 340-bottle bottling for The Spaniard bar in New York.
It was on a trip with a friend to southern Spain that John Glaser fell in love with sherry wines. A few years later, he discovered the world of whisky and the influence of casks on ageing. It was only natural that John created a whisky with strong Spanish influences.
The Story of The Spaniard is made up of six different whiskies, 48% of which have matured in sherry casks. It is made up of 40% sherry cask matured from a distillery near Aberlour, 25% Teaninich wine cask matured, 8% Deanston, 5% Glen Elgin and 15% Highland blended malt. This blended Highland malt is 60% Clynelish, 20% Dailuaine and 20% Teaninich.
Nose: Rich, bourbon vanilla, lemon zest.
Palate: Fruity, candied cherries, cinnamon, pepper.
Finish: Long and spicy, sultanas, panna cotta.
43% vol. 70 cl.
