THE SOULA

On the beautiful granite terraces of the Fenouillèdes region, northwest of Maury, Gérard Gauby and a few associates have acquired this certified organic farming estate.

In 2016, Wendy Wilson replaced Gerald Stanley, who had been operating since 2008.

Red and white wines are vinified in barrels on the basis of very natural principles: native yeasts, no acidification, no chaptalization. Never taken in lack of freshness or elegance, the reds have recently gained in structure and flesh.

But from the first vintage, in 2001, Le Soula was distinguished mainly by its whites, which impressed us with their purity and intensity: the combination of macabeu, white sauvignon and several other grape varieties is wonderful.

The distribution of grape varieties is original for the region. We have traditional grape varieties (Macabeu, Grenache blanc et gris, Malvoisie du Roussillon) as well as imported grape varieties (Sauvignon, Marsanne, Roussanne, Vermentino).

These reported grape varieties have adapted extremely well to our altitude terroirs. We manage to harvest them at perfect maturity for us. The altitude and cold summer nights allow us to keep a great freshness in our white wines.

Wines often deserve to be expected to enjoy their best expression.

Raised for nearly two years, the white PGI claims honey notes with orange blossom and turmeric found in the mouth. Lots of relief with meliss and bitter ends, which makes it a nice table wine.
