A large gravel terroir, Engelgarten is one of Bergheim's best-known terroirs. Its gravelly structure, the white soil, its marked water deficit, make it possible to obtain great physiological maturity of the grapes. The vineyard, quite old, is dug out and managed with extreme severity (very short pruning, plowing, composting). The vine is suffering and produces small harvests of magnificent complexity.

Grape varieties:
Complantation of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurrot, Muscat and Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes:
The fabric of the wine is thick, there is a dimension of nourishment (we eat the wine), the deeply tartaric and massive acidity occupies the entire mouth, the grain is visible, tight, therefore rougher: appearance of stoniness in the mouth and hot flash.
The energy comes slowly; after waiting, she climbs in stages, in puffs, more and more stony, fed. Final on the bitters.

Wine style:
Dry and complex white wine

Food and wine :
Veal sweetbread lacquered with candied lemon and ginger, tender pears with smoked brisket. Lobster pie and its Marc de Gewürztraminer bisque.
