The Original Wheated Bourbon
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
USA - Kentucky
Born in 1825, William Larue Weller was one of Kentucky's first pioneers. He is recognised as a legend by connoisseurs as the first to distil a wheat bourbon, using wheat instead of rye in the mashbill. The story of William Larue Weller is intimately linked to another bourbon legend. In 1893, Weller hired young Julian Van Winkle from the famous Pappy Van Winkle bourbon family.
Produced at the world's most award-winning distillery, W.L. Weller is aged for twelve years, much longer than most wheated bourbons, offering unparalleled depth and flavour.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Notes of almond, toasted corn and creamy vanilla come through gracefully in a crème brûlée fashion with a minty freshness.
Palate: On the palate, the wheat takes over on a background of complex and deliciously round notes of toasted wood, caramel, cinnamon and cherries.
Finish: The finish is long on dark chocolate, woody and with an intense sweetness.
