The Hakushu - Distiller's Reserve
Single Malt Whisky
Japon
The Hakushu distillery, located in the heart of the "Japanese Alps", produces a wide variety of Single Malts, including the unaged Hakushu Distiller's Reserve, which enriches the Hakushu range by demonstrating all the know-how of this distillery.
Hakushu Distiller's Reserve in its unaged version is the result of the marriage of young, lightly peated whiskies with more mature, highly peated whiskies aged in different types of casks.
The blend of this Single Malt is made from three sources:
- firstly, young whiskies aged less than 10 years, matured in Bourbon casks and lightly peated, chosen for their pure and refreshing aromas.
- secondly, with an old whisky matured in American white oak casks for more than 18 years, to bring body and complexity.
- And finally, with a young, powerfully peated whisky, aged for about 12 years in Bourbon casks, to bring a smoky note.
Bottled at 43°, Hakushu Distiller's Reserve also contains a little bit of sherry cask matured whisky to respect the tradition of the distillery and to give subtlety to this Single Malt.
The result is a fresh, richly flavoured whisky with fruity, smoky and peppery flavours.
