Paris Edition 2022
Single Malt Whisky
Japon
The result of Ichiro Akuto's expertise, each new Chichibu release is always eagerly awaited.
Chichibu distillery was founded in 2007 by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery. Chichibu has been in operation since February 2008.
Produced 100% in its own distillery, Chichibu is on its way to becoming the very first Japanese whisky, thanks to the efforts of its creator, Ichiro Akuto.
Fermented in mizunara vats (a rare and highly sought-after variety of Japanese oak for maturing whisky) and distilled in two custom-made stills in Scotland by Forsyth's.
The whisky produced is surprisingly mature and complex, even at a very young age.
A true craftsman's whisky.
Blended by Ichiro Akuto, the fifth edition of Chichibu Paris Edition is a small batch whisky aged mainly in bourbon casks, including a proportion of peated malts.
The bottles of this limited series are decorated with lithographs of the Thirty-six views of the Eiffel Tower, an artist's book published in 1902 by Henri Rivière (1864-1951). A figure of Art Nouveau, this Parisian illustrator and engraver, fascinated by Japanese engravings, was inspired by a famous work by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849): The Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. Thus, the 2022 edition embodies more than ever the crossed views between France and Japan.
