Dog Point Vineyard
Pinot noir 2019
Marlborough
Nouvelle-Zélande - Marlborough
![]()
The name 'Dog Point' derives from the early emigrants, mainly from England, and the sheep farms that accompanied their settlement.
In those days there were few fences and the sheep were guarded by horsemen and dogs. From time to time the dogs would get loose and breed into wild packs that would sometimes attack the flocks. They gathered on a hill overlooking the Wairau River, which the early emigrants called Dog Point.
Dog Point vineyards were among the first to be established on the Wairau River in the Marlborough region, the benchmark region for sauvignon blanc in New Zealand. The estate is one of the main suppliers of grapes to the Cloudy Bay estate and its management is ex-Cloudy Bay, but the Dog Point project is completely independent.
The entire vineyard, 255 hectares, has been certified organic since March 2016.
