Here is a flattering expression of the Carignan grape variety without lacking in aromatic precision or finesse in the mouth. The fruit is intense with notes of red and black fruits. The ripe tannins give way to a fresh and fruity persistence.

There are vocations that reveal themselves late. That of Jean-Charles Auffret, an agronomist and oenologist who graduated from Montpellier SupAgro in 1996, took twenty years to materialize. And a period of fifteen years as an employee in the Champagne region, including twelve at Veuve Cliquot as technical manager with the house's grape deliverers. But in 2011, the old dream of becoming a winegrower was the strongest. Jean-Charles Auffret left the salaried position and undertook an Executive MBA in Lyon, in order to challenge himself and examine his conscience.
The installation, which began in 2014, materializes with the purchase in January 2015 of two islets around the village of Saint-André-de-Sangonis. The first of 3.6 hectares, brings together a plot of old vines planted in 1959 with Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc and Chenin. The other islet completes the grape variety (syrah), a 2-hectare lease, bringing the farm to 9 hectares, mostly planted in red (60%). The conversion to organic farming, which began in 2016, resulted in AB certification with the 2019 vintage.
Unconditional of the Carignan grape variety, he isolates it in a cuvée, the "19 * 59" (1959, year of planting of the plot) in homage to the old Carignan vines of the estate. The characteristic freshness of this grape variety better suited to the effects of global warming is one of the major characteristics of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation which is distinguished by the freshness of its wines, explained by a strong thermal amplitude. by the slope of the ground (the day / night differential can reach 20 degrees in summer).
