While this Papalin Réunion aged in French oak casks is very different from the sherry cask-aged Papalin Haïti from the same New Vibrations creation catalogue, what they both have in common is a class and a power of seduction that knows no bounds. A blend of a grand aroma rum and three traditional rums, this version invites us to set off on a voyage of discovery of its aromatic and flavour palette, which evolves from deeply empyreumatic sequences to wonderfully fruity ones with disconcerting naturalness.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Elegant, complex. On the nose, a magnificent sequence of orange and chocolate aromas sets the tone for a tasting full of promise. Airing reveals very ripe mangoes and mineral aromas (shale).
Palate: Noble and invigorating. On the palate, the oranges on the nose release their fresh, tangy juice. More rooty (ginger, gentian), the mid-palate is also greedy (warm cane sugar). The finish is delicately apricot.
Finish: Long, racy. Powdery (cocoa, red tea), the finish captures all the fruitiness of the nose and palate. Flavours of toffee and stave oak fuel a very consistent mid-palate. The finish is both naturally fibrous and vegetal (sugar cane).
