Vilanova Berbie is the first single malt created by the Castan distillery, a French whisky producer, in Occitania, in the Tarn region.
The cultivation of the barley by the Castan farm, the brewing, the fermentation, the distillation, the aging and the bottling: all these steps are carried out on site. The distillery uses spring water, drawn from a depth of 110 meters.



Sébastien Castan offers this very nice Single Malt, Vilanova Berbie, not chill-filtered, made from an aging in ex-casks of dry and sweet white wines from French wine estates.



Tasting note:

Color: old gold, amber tendency.

Nose : Complex and greedy. It is first of all greedy notes which appear as vanilla, honey, wax and caramel. Very nice fruity aromas then take the lead like candied apricot, plum, tangerine, apple or raisin, enhanced with sweet spices.

Palate : Rich and malted. With a very nice greediness, the mouth gives way to dark chocolate and baked apple flavors, in addition to notes of nuts.

Finish : Pleasant and warm. The finish offers a great freshness, with notes of tiger balm and cherry, as well as beautiful woody flavors.

Enthralling and accomplished, this is one of those early whiskies that reaches maturity well before the others.
