Vin de France
France - Languedoc
For Sébastien Martin, "it all began 25 years ago on the university benches and came together a few months ago! It's a story of friendship and a passion for a product and his profession. In the meantime, 25 years of travel, learning, mistakes and achievements. Dozens of producers accompanied, industrial and profitability in a never favourable context... 10 years of 360° consulting: from production, through management to distribution. 10 years of versatility started a long time ago in a school curriculum that claimed to be a Rolex at 30. And then the last 3 years confirm what we already felt: if our agriculture is not nourishing for the farmers, suffering crisis after crisis, it is because we have separated the consumer from the one who produces/feeds, to the point of losing our food autonomy. To the point of feeding a system that has exceeded its limits, mainly due to the finitude of resources and the off-the-ground engineering applied since the Marshal Plan. It is therefore the trigger for the search for meaning for the actor that he is in a noble but badly treated profession.
Friends rub shoulders, follow and observe each other. And then one day, they find a synergy outside their respective areas. Each one provides his share: the land, the vines, the equipment, the technical knowledge (openness), the spirit of the distribution systems (so that the wine reaches the consumers), etc... Working together, sharing but keeping one's own path, especially when the 25 years are studded with differences... which will make the complementarity. Experimenting together with future techniques for the resilient earth, from agroecology to permaculture, from pragmatism to humility, EMOTION / CURIOSITY / SENSITIVITY. This work to create emotions is needed because a moment of sensory emotion is also a moment when worries, the negative, is no longer important, because the gustatory emotion grows the soul and therefore also feeds the stomach (and surely better than the obligatory or the dull). The emotion of the moments because a wine imbued with sensitivity is a contemplative moment in front of our capacity to create beauty! Curiosity is the corollary of high standards: how can we get to the end of the journey if we don't look for the way?
Sensitivity: Wine, like gastronomy and the arts, is a school of humility due to its high demand for patience and knowledge. They are vectors of communication between the artist and the amateur but also between amateurs of the same object.
Grape variety:
Carignan (very largely in the majority), Grenache noir and Syrah
Tasting :
This wine has a captivating dark ruby colour with purple highlights. The colour is pure. The tears are numerous and slow with a slight violet colour. This suggests a warm wine or one with some sweetness and concentration of material from a thick-skinned grape.
The first nose is chiselled and accessible. It is on blackcurrant and candied blueberry that the first olfactory notes are expressed. They then give way to more complex fragrances reminiscent of yellow curry and a note of sweet pepper. This fine and elegant nose also expresses vegetal notes such as cherry pit. At the end, there are hints of balsamic and wild strawberry.
On the palate, the attack is suave with a fine and voluptuous expression of ripe fruit. The mid-palate expresses the aromas of the nose, blackcurrant and candied blueberry, to which are added aromas of caramel. The sweet pepper is always present and caresses the taste buds with finesse. There is a beautiful coherence between the nose and the mouth. The tannins are present, concentrated and ripe. They provide a robust structure while making room for the aromatic expression and southern character of this wine. Indeed, tasting this wine leaves no doubt as to its origin: it has grown under the gentle sun. A gentle warmth on the palate tells you of the summer that saw the grapes that gave birth to this wine grow. This warmth is accompanied by a wave of freshness on the finish which, together with the tannins, gives a pleasant, generous and solar balance.
On the finish, the forest fruits are present, with their candied and ripe character. It is crisp and greedy. This wine still lingers on the palate with a long finish that leaves a sweet memory of a late summer day with friends.
