Domaine de Ravanès is a wine estate located in Thézan-lès-Béziers, in the Languedoc region.
The estate covers approximately 35 hectares and has been farmed organically since 2011.
It is owned by the Benin family: Marc Benin (oenologist/ampelographer) and his sons Axel (production) and David (sales).
The site is built on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa, Aspiran de Ravanès, which was already cultivating vines in Roman times.
The estate boasts excellent terroir with gravelly clay-limestone soils on the banks of the Orb River, imparting a beautiful minerality to the wines.
From the 1970s onwards, the estate has focused on producing high-end wines, for example, by introducing Bordeaux grape varieties to the Languedoc region, a practice initiated by Guy Benin, the grandfather. A significant moment: in 2004, during a blind tasting in London, the "Les Gravières du Taurou" cuvée from the 1999 vintage of the estate beat the famous Pétrus.
