La Chapelle Saint-Mathieu

Jourde 2021

Pays d'Hérault IGP

France - Languedoc

La Chapelle Saint Mathieu is located in Aniane, in the Hérault.
Jean-Emmanuel Parcé (Domaine de la Rectorie in Banyuls, 66) and his sister Jeanne have created this estate with Mont Baudile as a backdrop. The name of the estate, La Chapelle Saint-Mathieu, is a tribute to their late brother.
The Parcé family has planted ten hectares of around ten grape varieties on land that had been fallow for some forty years. All beautiful, their young vines have just produced their first wines, both intense and tender, full of promise.

Grape varieties :

30% roussanne, 35% grenache blanc, 5% grenache gris, 20% chenin and 10% clairette.
Fermented in barrels, with seven months' maturation in casks and regular stirring.

Tasting notes:

Jourde blanc is a surprising blend, a wine made from a mosaic of grape varieties. We appreciate its roundness, its greediness and its freshness! Good texture, purity, depth of flavour and very nice evolution in the glass. The very fine, subtle oak brings slightly buttery notes and contributes to the complexity of the wine. The style is delicate, the acidity is good, and the result makes you salivate. This wine is still young but very promising.

Wine style :

Tasty and complex dry white wine.

Food and wine pairing :

Risotto with chanterelles and old parmesan. Potato and Mediterranean dentice salad with thyme and fennel vinaigrette.
