G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba is a red wine from Piedmont, made predominantly from grapes grown on vineyards around Barolo and Novello. It offers a fresh, fruity profile (cherry, plum) with minimal oak influence, a supple structure and excellent drinkability.
The other vintages of:
Humility and a sense of sharing shine through in the eyes of Aldo Vajra, an outstanding winemaker and lover of his Piedmont. Nourishing land of great wines through its fabulous terroirs, this Piedmont is revealed here in all its most beautiful nuances and subtleties in wines touched by grace, finesse and complexity.
Far from the big "stars" of the Barolo appellation, Aldo Vajra has built up a treasure of vines that he has been pampering since 1972 through careful and rigorous viticulture. It was on this date that he and his wife Milena took over this estate. Today, her children (Giuseppe and Isidoro) are following in their parents' footsteps and working alongside them to perpetuate this gem that shines on the large tables of enlightened amateurs. Doubt punctuates each of the decisions made by the estate in the vineyard and in the cellar.
It is perhaps this modesty and this questioning that allows the wines to reveal themselves with so much distinction and naturalness. Without artifice or ostentation, they indulge in emotion, forcefully revealing their land of origin. The human hand here seems to fade away to offer us the quintessence of each of the plots or of each blend of terroirs. The Domaine Vajra vineyard is located in Vergne, the highest village in the Municipality of Barolo, and includes plots of Nebbiolo, as well as Dolcetto and Barbera. Planted at an altitude of 350-400 meters, the estate's vines have a longer maturation cycle than for other Barolo wines.
The grapes are harvested late in order to obtain good maturity and produce distinguished and powerful wines. Aldo and Milena Vajra are passionate winegrowers who work in perfect harmony with their environment to respect nature. This results in wines of great aromatic expression, elegant and ample and which bring a lot of pleasure.
