Located in Castelraimondo, at the heart of the Verdicchio di Matelica DOC appellation, the ColleStefano estate is one of Italy’s most renowned wineries for the production of organic white wines of great purity. Founded and run by Fabio Marchionni, the estate cultivates around 20 hectares of vines in the Matelica valley, a unique area sheltered from maritime influences, which promotes slow ripening and intense aromatic freshness.
The Marchionni family has been based at the site since the 1970s. In 1998, Fabio Marchionni, a graduate in oenology, released his first Verdicchio di Matelica and contributed to the appellation’s revival in terms of quality. The estate has always practised organic farming and has held organic certification since 1995. The grapes are harvested by hand and winemaking prioritises minimal intervention in order to preserve the expression of the terroir.
ColleStefano is regularly cited as one of the finest producers of Verdicchio di Matelica. Its wines have received numerous accolades in the Italian wine press and are recognised for their excellent value for money as well as their remarkable ageing potential. Wine enthusiasts also highlight their freshness, minerality and consistent quality.
