This iconic Lustau wine takes its name from a 17th century trading company who noticed that the transatlantic voyage and the temperatures of the Caribbean enhanced the wine, making it smoother and more complex. Lustau tries to reproduce these conditions to create this East India Solera. Its aging process recreates that of the wines that crossed the oceans on these 17th century voyages and returned to European ports with added complexity and smoothness. It is the result of a blend of the best olorosos (palomino) and pedro ximénez wines aged separately in solera for 12 years then from a second assembled aging, always in solera (made up of 45 American oak barrels) for 3 years.
Grape varieties:
Palomino and Pedro Ximenez
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful dark mahogany color with green and amber edge. It offers vibrant notes of maple syrup, brown sugar, wax, raisin, nuts and chocolate, all very well integrated. On the palate, it is soft (sugar: 140 g / l) and rich on the attack, full of flavors of prunes and candied orange peels. Provocative spicy notes appear just before the nutty and its formidable acidity does not cut the sweetness. With a truly unforgettable finish.
Wine style:
Sweet white wine. Oxidative wine.
