Jasnières AOP

France - Vallée de la Loire

In the discreet Sarthe appellations of Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir, Sébastien Cornille has been making a name for himself for several vintages. After a wine-growing adventure on the island of Reunion, the thirty-year-old landed in this vineyard, the most northerly in the Loire Valley, in 2007. He is progressively converting his 6.50 hectares to organic farming in order to make wines as naturally as possible.
These are made from chenins planted on flinty clay, which go through long pressings in whole bunches, fermentations and maturing in old barrels.

The whites of Jasnières assert themselves with great vigor and a noble and austere bitterness in the mouth, coming from their terroir.

Grape varieties:

100% chenin.
Vines on hillsides, 30 years old on average. South-south east exposure.
Blend of the different terroirs of the estate, flinty clay on limestone subsoil in the middle of the slopes (70%) and richer, clayey lower slopes (30%).
