Gianni Brunelli - Le Chiuse di Sotto
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
Italie - Toscane
In 1987, Gianni Brunelli, then a restaurant owner (Osteria Le Logge, in Siena, a must!), embarked on a wine-growing adventure. He acquired the Chiuse di Sotto estate and then enlarged it with the purchase of the Podernovone estate. In 2008, Gianni Brunelli passed away. His wife, Laura, took over the reins of the estate and brought it to this level of excellence.
The Gianni Brunelli estate covers almost 7 hectares. In order to produce the finest wines, the work in the vineyard and in the cellar is done with great precision and mastery of each stage, from the grape to the bottle.
For the famous international critic Robert Parker: "The team at Gianni Brunelli - Le Chiuse di Sotto is on a roll, and these latest vintages have really hit the spot. Their latest release, the lovely 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, is one of the stars of the vintage! ... It remains true to Montalcino's promise of elegance, balance and longevity. It is a classic interpretation that offers a very precise and pure window into the Sangiovese grape... "
Grape varieties:
100% Sangiovese
Tasting Notes:
This wine opens with a dark and enchanting bouquet, reminding me of picking ripe strawberries, as pretty dark red fruits mingle with earthy tones and floral notes. The aromas of spicy orange and soft minerality slowly develop in the glass. On the palate, it floods the senses with textures like fine velvet, but without heaviness in any way, rather guided by lively acids and mineral sensations. The whole carries nuances of fleshy red fruit, leather, tobacco, with hints of savoury herbs and spices. It reveals a coating of round tannins, with spice and lovely lingering floral tones.
What a magnificent expression of the character of this vintage complemented by the classic style of this prestigious estate. Even in its youth, the 2015 will have many fans, but it should thrive in the cellar over the next twenty to thirty years.
