Serra & Lample
Aragonum Clásico 2016
Calatayud DO
Espagne - Aragón
In the heart of high altitude vineyards (900 metres), these old Grenache vines are grown on schist soils in the high hills of Aragón. The naturally low yields combined with a totally preserved natural environment and a climate perfectly adapted to the cultivation of the vine, offer a raw material of exceptional quality.
Chemical-free vineyard cultivation, manual harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and the use of very small amounts of sulphur are the principles that govern the production of these wines, in a "natural" spirit, always closer to the terroir.
Grape varieties :
85% Grenache noir and 15% Tempranillo
Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting notes:
With a deep and very sustained colour, this wine expresses fruity notes of black cherry, vine peach and strawberry. The schist terroir gives the wine smoky, burnt aromas, with hints of graphite and spice. Rich, very fruity, the mouth opens with a lot of roundness balanced by a surprising freshness due in part to the altitude. The tannins are already well melted and carry a long finish with a dominant fruitiness.
Wine style :
Silky and fruity red wine
Food and wine pairing :
Szechuan-style pork saute. Charolais fillet Wellington style.
Ageing potential in your cellar :
7 years
Analysis :
