Peter Max
Pinot noir 2020
Western Cape WO
Afrique du Sud - Western Cape
Peter and Max are the names of the growers who supplied the grapes for the first vintage of this wine. The sources of supply have since changed, but the name remains to honour the beginnings of this multi-vineyard pinot noir blend. The philosophy here is to use the individual lots to form a blend that is more than the sum of its parts.
Grape varieties:
100% pinot noir
Tasting Notes:
This wine shows red and black fruit on the nose; wild strawberry and rhubarb sit alongside blackberry and tomato leaf, while black olive, salty liquorice and a distinctive smokiness of charcuterie add gravitas. The palate is fresh, vibrant and precise, with red plum and tart cherry notes supported by racy acidity and fine tannins. Lovely pine resin finish.
Wine style:
Elegant and racy red wine.
Food and wine pairing :
Roast veal with sage, chanterelle risotto. Lamb mice confit with thyme and rosemary.
Ageing potential in your cellar :
8 years
